Hiring for Bilingual Spanish Candidates Grows

It's been a while since we looked at hiring demand for bilingual professionals, so we thought it would be interesting to look at recent job ads that require Spanish-speaking skills. We expected to see an increase in the volume since bilingual workers are needed in many organizations and in many occupations; however, we were surprised to see how much demand had increased since January. In April, more than 55,000 jobs were advertised online that either required or preferred candidates that speak Spanish fluently, growing 27% since January.

The 15 most commonly advertised job titles that include specifications in the ads for bilingual candidates are listed below. Many are retail, sales, customer service, or other customer facing jobs. Healthcare positions also seem to be among the jobs with the most demand – both Medical Assistants and Registered Nurses appeared in the below list.

  3. Customer Service Representative (or Customer Service Associate)
  4. Assistant Manager
  5. Wireless Sales Associate
  6. Store Manager
  7. Manager
  8. Commercial Parts Professional
  9. Administrative Assistant
  10. Receptionist
  11. Management Trainee
  12. Medical Assistant
  13. Production Supervisor
  14. Registered Nurse
  15. Case Manager

In addition to being able to speak fluently in Spanish, candidates are required to have additional skills. Below are the 10 tools and technologies that are most commonly required in online job ads.

  5. Customer relationship management (CRM)
  6. Microsoft Excel
